The Bean
Grown at an elevation of 5,000 - 5,500 ft., our Honduran coffee is grown on the slopes of the San Matias mountains. The farm began with donated saplings to sustain Ranch Ebenezer, a home for orphans and disadvantaged children. The quality of the beans has grown alongside the children; each crop is better than the last. With a fairly light roast, we bring out the coffee’s brighter, more complex body, clean floral and lemon-fruit flavor notes, and a graham-cracker finish.

The Children
In 2001, the home was built to give the children an escape from the city. Coffee represents a second chance at life and also a huge part of their country’s culture. A proposed coffee lab at the home would marry the work we do—roasting and brewing—with what they’ve grown up among—cultivating and processing. On the first trip, the kids said they hoped we’d come back. We did. We went back for more coffee. And more soccer games.

The Story
Our Honduran crop is a metaphor for our company. The expertise we gained from our relationships in Guatemala enabled us to help raise the quality of the Honduran farm until it met our standards and improved their chances of selling the entire crop. As crop maintenance is increasingly important, jobs were created for local workers. And we’re always doing more. We’re interested in long-term relationships. So we’re hoping to buy more coffee, at a higher price, every year. Maybe soon we can get that coffee lab off the ground.
